Critical Path: A Brief History of Critical Infrastructure Protection in the United States

This book features the work of the PCCIP, the President's Commission on Critical Infrastructure Protection, and its landmark 1997 report "Critical Foundations: Protecting America’s Infrastructures" The Commission's findings represented a paradigm shift in how infrastructures, risk, and security, were perceived by both policy-makers and the general public. Since then, it was understood that organizational and structural interdependencies require all sectors of society to coordinate their protection efforts; an approach that proved to be essential in managing the aftermath of the September 11 attacks.

Through unprecedented access to the decision-makers and participants in the PCCIP, this book gives a rarely-seen inside view of the events and processes that lead to "Critical Foundations."

Written by Kathi Ann Brown
Foreword by John A. McCarthy

Published by George Mason University Press, 2006.
