Frontiers in Resilience Symposium: Developing Innovative Resilience Solutions at the Interface of Science, Economics, and Policy

Sponsored by

Sandia National Laboratories, in partnership with the Center for Infrastructure Protection and Homeland Security, will host the 2017 Frontiers in Resilience Symposium at George Mason University in Arlington, Virginia on May 10 – 11, 2017. The Symposium will bring together thought leaders, practitioners, and researchers to give multi-disciplinary, solution-based talks that explore the critical intersection of engineering, policy, and economics as the foundation of resilience and foster conversations and collaboration toward identifying resilience solutions for our most complex and challenging national security concerns. This event offers the security and resilience community a unique opportunity to engage in rich dialogue on the issues we approach from different perspectives. Frontiers in Resilience will feature subject matter expert panels and multidisciplinary, cross-cutting discussions based on paper and panel submissions. Areas of focus will include:

  • Resilience as it relates to each of the sub-disciplines
  • Resilience case studies that include each of the elements
  • Urban resilience
  • Incentivizing resilience
  • Human behavior and how it contributes/constrains resilience
  • Cybersecurity
  • Grid Resilience

We seek papers and presentations which explore innovative approaches in these areas. These presentations should feature original theoretical, methodological, and empirical research as well as relevant applied or policy research. We also welcome methods papers in areas such as risk communication or social network analysis. For more information about submissions, please see the attached Call for Papers/Presentations.
