WAMU, American University’s public radio station, has recently featured coverage of important issues currently facing U.S. infrastructure. We share two of these features below.

The Diane Rehm Show: Lights Out

In an interview broadcast on November 16, 2015, Diane Rehm spoke to former Nightline anchor Ted Koppel on the latest developments in Paris and his recent research on the vulnerabilities of the U.S. power grid. They discussed Koppel’s new book, Lights Out, about the threat of attack on the power system and the preparation that is currently lacking to prevent and recovery from such a strike.

WAMU News: Space Weather and Solar Storms

On November 4, Jason Samenow,
a meteorologist with the Capital Weather Gang at The Washington Post, provided a report on solar storms, including some valuable information about the hazards of space weather and the plans being pursued by the White House to prepare.
